Pooja Kumari Baishya is a passionate social worker, activist, journalist, and researcher serving as the DRR and Social Mobilization Associate at ROYM Nepal in Nepalgunj, Lumbini Province. With over five years of experience in gender equality, SRHR, youth engagement, WASH, and evidence-based advocacy, Pooja brings a unique blend of grassroots energy and policy insight to her role.
Her journey spans impactful roles with organizations such as Visible Impact, Anweshan.org, Freedom Studio, Nepal Leadership Academy, and the National Youth Council. She has led community workshops, conducted field research, and mobilized youth across diverse districts, always centering the voices of marginalized women and girls. Her work includes content creation on women’s empowerment, disaster journalism, and civic engagement, supported by fellowships from UNESCO Nepal, IFES, and Arrow International.
Pooja holds a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management and Research from Tribhuvan University and a Diploma in Social Work from CTEVT. She is fluent in six languages including Awadhi, Nepali, Hindi, and Bhojpuri, allowing her to connect deeply with diverse communities. Her research contributions include studies on safe abortion, political literacy, climate change, and disaster resilience, linking grassroots realities with national advocacy.
At ROYM Nepal, Pooja leads with empathy, agility, and a fierce commitment to inclusive disaster preparedness. Her role is pivotal in strengthening local resilience, amplifying youth voices, and ensuring that every intervention reflects the lived experiences of those most affected by inequality and crisis.
